I Like My Octopus Fresh

I'm not one for sushi, but I know tons of people who just love their raw fish (Including my swedish friend, who pops out a can of salmon for lunch all the days she doesn't have swedish meatballs.)

If you think eating raw salmon is hardcore, you've got another thing coming. There is a dish where a live octopus is dismembered (usually before your very eyes), the innards served on a fancy plate, and sesame seeds sprinkled on top of the guts.

Apparently, in Japan, feeding you live fish (or using a fish that was alive a couple minutes before it was on your plate) demonstrates how fresh it is. In fact, there is also a dish where a fish is either deep fried or filleted and somehow kept from going to the light long enough for you to finish your meal. Sometimes, if you want to wait a few minutes before getting seconds, the fish will be returned to the tank to swim around some more before it takes its final flops.
